New Delhi, October 20, 2026: Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), has made several significant statements amid the ongoing controversy surrounding protests against alleged electoral irregularities, police action and the detention of fellow activists.

In his latest public message on Tuesday, Dipke became emotional while discussing the continued detention of CJP members Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka. He appealed to supporters to temporarily suspend protest activities until Diwali, spend time with their families and prepare for the challenges ahead.

At the same time, Dipke maintained that the movement would continue through peaceful, constitutional and Gandhian methods.

What did Abhijeet Dipke say in his latest statement?

1. Emotional appeal to CJP supporters ahead of Diwali

During an Instagram Live session on October 20, Dipke discussed the sacrifices made by CJP activists, particularly Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, who remain in judicial custody.

He credited the two activists with helping sustain the organization's protest movement and acknowledged the emotional burden their detention had placed on their families.

Dipke urged supporters to spend the festive period with their loved ones and suggested temporarily pausing protest activities until Diwali.

He also warned that the coming weeks could be more difficult for the movement, alleging that legal proceedings and police restrictions were being used to discourage activists.

Importantly, his appeal was for a temporary pause, not a declaration that the movement had permanently ended.

2. Dipke rejects comparisons with violent regime-change movements

Another major part of Dipke's October 20 statement concerned allegations that opposition protests in India were following the pattern of political upheavals in Nepal and Bangladesh.

According to The Tribune, Dipke rejected such comparisons for the second time, insisting that the CJP's activities were fundamentally peaceful.

He defended Das and Ranka as advocates of non-violent protest and argued that attempts to portray the movement as a campaign for violent regime change were misleading.

The statement came amid accusations from BJP leaders that certain protest groups were pursuing an anti-government agenda. Opposition leaders have disputed that characterization.

Dipke said the CJP would continue following Gandhian principles of peaceful resistance.

3. Criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over activists' detention

Dipke also directed criticism at Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the judicial custody of Das and Ranka was extended.

He accused the government of using state institutions and police action to intimidate young protesters.

In a video circulated on social media, Dipke questioned the Prime Minister's leadership and praised the detained activists for remaining committed to their cause.

These allegations reflect Dipke's political position; they are not independently established findings of government misconduct.

4. Why were Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka arrested?

The controversy intensified following the arrest of two CJP activists on October 14.

According to reports, the two were accused of violating restrictions around Jantar Mantar during protests against the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

The reported legal issues included alleged trespassing at the JD(U) office near Jantar Mantar and an alleged violation of a peace bond.

Their initial five-day judicial custody was subsequently extended by two days following proceedings before a Special Executive Magistrate.

Their lawyers reportedly said that a surety submission was rejected because of a document mismatch. The allegations against the activists remain subject to legal proceedings.

5. Dipke's recent arrest and release

Dipke himself was detained by Delhi Police on October 16 in connection with plans for a protest march called Lehra Do Tiranga in Connaught Place.

He was subsequently released on October 17 after being granted conditional bail and signing a peace bond.

Following his release, he criticized the police action and maintained that his movement would continue.

The latest statements therefore come amid mounting legal and organizational challenges for the CJP.

6. Dipke also questions Delhi Police over Lawrence Bishnoi remark

In another development reported on October 20, Dipke shared a resurfaced video in which a Delhi Police officer referred to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi using the honorific sahab.

Dipke questioned what he considered inconsistent treatment of alleged criminals and political protesters.

Delhi Police responded that the video was more than a year old and described the officer's wording as an unintentional slip of the tongue.

The exchange added another dimension to Dipke's public criticism of police conduct.

What happens next for the Cockroach Janata Party?

The immediate future of the CJP movement remains uncertain. Dipke has encouraged supporters to take a temporary break from street demonstrations while continuing to defend the organization's objectives.

The developments to watch include the legal proceedings involving Das and Ranka, any announcement about restarting demonstrations, and the organization's response to restrictions on public gatherings.

Although Dipke has adopted a confrontational tone toward the government, his latest statement places particular emphasis on non-violence, family responsibilities and solidarity among activists.
